"Season in Hell" (French: Une Saison en Enfer), 1873/1986

is an extended poem in prose written and published in 1873 by French writer Arthur Rimbaud. Republished in 1986 for The Limited Editions Club. SIGNED edition 718/1000 by Robert Mapplethorpe, and translator Paul Schmidt. A total of 1,000 copies were printed at Wild Carrot Letterpress in Hadley, Massachusetts, of which this is number 718. The text has been set in 14 point Monotype Perpetua at Out of Sorts Letterfoundry. The photogravure plates were made by Jon Goodman. The paper used for the text is a mould-made letterpress sheet and the photogravures were printed on a hand-made etching paper, with both papers made at Cartiere Enrico Magnani. The book was bound by and the slipcase was made at the Jovonis Bookbindery. Measuring 11½” tall by 8” wide,
Condition:
Excellent- the full red leather binding is tight and the pages are clean, bright and unmarked. Overall, this is a pristine collector's copy that comes in the publisher's lined slipcase shows slight wear.
